Projections
Shadows are intersections created as an object slices through light, creating a projection somewhere in space. I wanted to explore the shadow not only as a projection of an object but also as a projection of the self. In choosing what to photograph, some piece of myself and my view of the world is transposed onto the photograph. I find interest in the seemingly mundane of everyday life, and that approach is reflected in my photographs. In the series, I interpolate photographs in which the shadows project my figure, a more literal inclusion of myself within the photographs. However, each photograph in itself is a projection of me, a shadow of my own. Through the imposition of my way of seeing into the way I photograph, and also in the literal interpretation by way of the process of capturing light that creates a photograph, the photographs in this series are shadows.
