In this piece I wanted to explore perception, particularly how I think other people perceive me. It is a self portrait through the lens of what I think people notice about me first: the jewelry and accessories I wear. While making this piece, I asked myself questions about what is perceived as feminine vs. masculine, what degree of self expression is worth what level of negative judgement or misinterpretation, and what parts of my identity should I prioritize expressing in order to feel seen?
